Need a new Women In Tech Podcast? Look No Further.

“Headphones at the ready: the Evening Standard’s female-focused podcast Women Tech Charge is back for a second season, highlighting trailblazers in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM).

Host Anne-Marie Imafidon, founder of social enterprise STEMettes, which encourages girls aged five to 22 to pursue careers in the sector, returns to the podcast chair to meet a new round of pioneering women. Today’s launch is on Ada Lovelace Day, the annual celebration of women in STEM in honour of the woman who wrote the world’s first computer program in 1842.

Imafidon is excited to be returning for a second series. ‘We’ve broadened our definition of tech for this one and gone to the wider edges of STEM. But even though we’ve chosen women from different parts of tech, there are similar themes to their journeys.’

All of which shows that there’s no such thing as a standard route to success in STEM, she says. “You learn so much listening to someone’s journey and from their process, not just what their title is. It’s been really powerful.”

Of all of this season’s guests, Imafidon is most looking forward to speaking to former racing car driver Susie Wolff, who, at the British Grand Prix in 2014, became the first woman in 22 years to take part in a Formula One race weekend. Now she can be found at the side of the track as team principal of Venturi, a Formula E electric car racing team co-founded by Leonardo DiCaprio. “A racing driver isn’t something you think about often in the women’s empowerment space,” says Imafidon.” Read More
